ASK ABOUT FREE ULTRASOUND SCREENINGS WHEN YOU VOLUNTEER FOR STUDENTS TO PRACTICE ON YOUR CAROTID ARTERIES AT ADOM, ACADEMY OF DIAGNOSTIC AND OSTEOPATHIC MEDICINE Nussbaumer Health Carotid Ultrasound Screening is performed in 30 minutes or less in a chair sitting up or on a scan table lying down, depending on your preference. Water based gel or lotion is placed on the ultrasound probe and gently moves from your collarbone area to your jawline while a survey of your carotid arteries - the arteries that supply blood flow to you brain, face and neck - is completed. It is a painless examination that is performed fully clothed. It is recommended that patients do not wear neck jewelry, turtlenecks, neckties or other constricting clothing for this examination.
